As a manager, creator, designer and multi award-winning animator, Flux founder and mastermind Brent Chambers is no stranger to the art of direction.
It is his expertise in all these areas that has brought Flux to the forefront of the animation industry.
Brent’s love affair with animation grew out of his early days as a graphic artist and his subsequent training as an animator under Disney veteran John Ewing. Cutting his teeth on Warner Brothers and Disney properties, he has worked a plethora of iconic projects throughout his career, including Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop Ramp Champ and It’s Your Best Birthday Ever Charlie Brown, as well as a swag of Australian series the likes of Flipper, Wicked and Fairy Tale Police Department.
Having lent his craft to the ad business, in 1995 he was rewarded with a Gold Axis award for his work on an ANZ Serious Saver commercial - the first of many awards to follow. He was also runner-up NZ Cartoonist of the Year in the Qantas Media Awards the same year. Seeing an opportunity in the market, in 1997 Brent established Flux in a strategic move that 12 or so years on has yeilded the largest independent animation studio in New Zealand.
Brent has built an international reputation as an animation director. In 2004 he directed three spots for Hornet Inc. for Orbit Gum, playing on the Wrigley’s famed Times Square jumbotron billboard in NYC. Brent extended his network of alliances with the likes of Australian-based Flying Bark Productions and NY and LA-based Famous Group, who still represent Brent as a director.
In 2009, Flux boasts the production of 11 successful television series, including the internationally distributed Staines Down Drains plus Puzzle Inc., The Adventures of Massey Ferguson, Tamatoa and Master Raindrop.
