Orange Guy is the long-standing 'spokes-blob' for the New Zealand Electoral Commission. The Commission has used this 'everyman' icon in a series of campaigns over recent years to encourage New Zealanders to register and vote at general elections, and to have their say on important issues.

The most recent campaign, a Citizens Initiated Referendum on anti-smacking legislation, asked the question "Should a smack as part of good parental correction be a criminal offense in New Zealand?"

During his time in office, Orange Guy has picked up a silver Effie for Y&R, in the hardest category of all - sustained success.
