Flux Director

Mike Howie is the tallest animator and director we've ever seen

Despite unfortunate appearance, Mike has forged himself a somewhat large career in the relatively small and insignificant world of animation. Here’s how it’s played out:

Early years. Accumulates a fortune in toys and cash prizes and numerous photos in local press, through winning colouring competitions. Used ground breaking techniques – glue and glitter, cardboard mounts and relief work. Went into hiding. Reappears 20-odd years later. Finds himself in Sydney animating for an Aussie guy called Walt Disney. Lion King, Little Mermaid, A Jungle Book are such classics he didn’t work on.

Five years later. Reappears in London, knee deep in coffee grounds at Espresso Animation. Leaves when solar powered watch stops. Not enough light. A stint in Berlin. Reappears two years later back at Disney.

At Flux for six years now. Hooked into a variety of high quality predominantly 2D outputs in spite of his physical disadvantages: Quite overly tall, with extra elongated arms and legs. Ridiculous proportions really but sure gets a chuckle. Sort of an odd shaped head with large nose and drooping lips. A bit of a stoop neck. Chin and Adam’s apple very close together and almost indistinguishable. Expression friendly.
