With 15 years experience in the animation industry, Raymond McGrath is one of Flux’s most experienced directors.
The multi-skilled McGrath trained in 2D and 3D animation and design. He also has a background in live action, theatre and children's book illustration, making him a particular and insightful talent.
Apart from his skills in design and retro-fashion, Ray has amassed a cupboard full of direction credits. He was animation director on Staines Down Draines, a 26 half hour international co-produced TV series, and he directed the recently released half hour pilot of New Zealand icon 'Buzzy Bee & Friends. He is also the creator and director of the educational preschool show 'Puzzle Inc.'
On the advertising side of the business, Ray co-directed (with Brent Chambers) the award-winning 3D commercial ‘Welcome to Anchorville’ and he went on to solo direct four subsequent spots in the series. More recently, his credits include an award-winning Hanover Finance campaign, the internationally recognized and very funny viral series for 'Solo Smoothie' (McCann Norway) and the national Telstra Clear ‘Icons’ campaign. He is also responsible for LA based kiwi band Steriogram’s music video, 'Tsunami' - he insists he was sober at the time.
Over and above all this, Ray is perhaps most famous for behaving like a DJ, playing Doobie Brothers vinyl loudly in the studio on a dodgy looking turntable sitting proudly atop one of the original 60’s Disney animation desks.
